Aircraft Carrier in Lake Ontario?
Chris Phinney, October 10th, 2007Chris Moore, John Millar and I dove the “SA Queen” yesterday afternoon. Weather was hot but the winds were light. The lake was not too choppy at all. First time on this site for all three of us.

Geared up and prepared the boat at about 2:00pm. Headed out to the wreck and found the mooring no problem. Did a leisurely 40 min dive with John and after a short SI (in water) Chris M and I headed down to the wreck for a ~60 min dive.

Interesting wreck just like the photos in other threads have shown…… except for the plane on top of it. Not sure when this addition was made but there was a plane body (split in two) and various plane parts sitting on top of the wreck. I would therefore submit that this site be renamed CVL SA Queen (CVL being a light aircraft carrier hull designation).

Aside from that, the dive was as expected with Chris and I doing a little swim around inside and outside. Visibility was poor at around 15-20 ft.

Special thanks to Oakville Divers for maintaining the mooring buoy at this site.
All in all a pleasant day to be diving in Oakville with the best of company.

L O, LA !
You guys are doing great work! I just found your site this morning (Dec 26) through google earth.
I have been certified since 2002, my wife and I are advanced divers, and NAS 1 trained.
We are members of the OUC and SOS, as well as the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association.
I am also a long time member of the Toronto Aerospace Museum.
We would like to dive the Southern Trail perhaps in May 2008
